​【日本初公開】 沖縄の海で奏でる、科学と芸術の融合 「Music for the Ocean」

「Music for the Ocean」は、作曲家チャド・キャノンが主宰する、音楽・科学・映像芸術を融合した海洋保全プロジェクトです。海洋科学者との協働や世界各地での海洋調査・ダイビング体験から着想を得た音楽を、ヴァイオリンとピアノによる生演奏、オリジナルアニメーション映像、没入感あふれる照明デザイン、そして臨場感豊かなサウンドデザインとともにお届けします。海の美しさや神秘、そして直面する環境課題を五感で体験することで、人々と海とのつながりを深め、未来の海を守る行動へとつなげることを目指しています。 Music for the Ocean is a multimedia concert experience created by composer Chad Cannon to raise awareness and funds for ocean conservation - especially coral reefs. The show combines live classical & electronic music with video animations & sound design to create an immersive "nature documentary for the concert hall", meant to help audiences fall in love with the ocean.

本公演には、海洋科学ジャーナリストのジュリ・バーウォルド博士が特別ゲストとして登壇し、ホンジュラス・テラ湾で進められている絶滅危惧サンゴの保全活動についてお話しいただきます。また、本公演は、テラ・コーラル（Tela Coral）が設立を進めるサンゴ・バイオバンクへの支援を目的としたチャリティーコンサートです。サンゴの貴重な遺伝資源を未来へ受け継ぐための取り組みを、音楽とともにご紹介します。 Special guest Dr. Juli Berwald, science writer and ocean advocate, will share the story of efforts to protect critically endangered corals in Tela Bay, Honduras. This concert also serves as a fundraiser for Tela Coral's coral biobank, an initiative dedicated to preserving the genetic diversity of these remarkable coral species for future generations. Through music and science, audiences will learn how conservation and community action can help safeguard the future of our oceans.

【世界を舞台に活躍する豪華出演陣】

​​チャド・キャノン（Chad Cannon） 作曲家・ヴァイオリニスト／『Music for the Ocean』創設者

『ゴースト・オブ・ツシマ』や『アメリカン・ファクトリー』など、アカデミー賞やエミー賞を賑わせる数々の作品を手がける気鋭の音楽家。久石譲氏の右腕としてオーケストラ編曲を担うなど、第一線で活躍する。本プロジェクトでは、ハイドロフォン（水中マイク）で録音した深海の音と独自の旋律を融合。アニメーションと音楽が織りなす「コンサートホールで体験する自然ドキュメンタリー」を創り上げ、海を愛するすべての人に新たな物語を届ける。 Chad Cannon is a composer and arranger whose work has contributed to acclaimed productions including Ghost of Tsushima and the Academy Award-winning documentary American Factory. He has also collaborated extensively with renowned composer Joe Hisaishi as an orchestral arranger. He received a News & Documentary Emmy nomination for his score to Exposing Muybridge, and has received 7 IFMCA (International Film Music Critics Association) nominations, including for Harbor from the Holocaust, featuring special guest artist Yo-Yo Ma.

​フェ・ウー（HUI WU） ピアニスト 『ニューヨーク・タイムズ』紙から「輝かしい」と評され、『チャイナ・ミュージカル・ウィークリー』誌で「期待の新星」と称される実力派ピアニスト。ジュリアード音楽院で修士号、南カリフォルニア大学（USC）で音楽芸術博士号（DMA）を取得。室内楽から現代音楽、バレエ作品との共演まで幅広く活動し、マシュー・オーコイン等、現代の注目作曲家の作品を数多く演奏・録音する。確かな技術と深い音楽性で、多様な舞台を彩る注目のアーティスト。 Praised as “brilliant” by The New York Times and recognized as a “rising star” by China Musical Weekly, Hui Wu is an internationally acclaimed pianist known for her versatility and expressive artistry. She earned her Master of Music degree from The Juilliard School and her Doctor of Musical Arts degree from University of Southern California. Her career spans chamber music, contemporary music, and interdisciplinary collaborations with dance and theater, and she is particularly recognized for championing the works of today's leading composers through performances and recordings around the world.

​広津留すみれ: ヴァイオリニスト 大分市出身。ハーバード大学在学中に世界的チェリストのヨーヨー・マと度々の共演を経て、米国を拠点に演奏活動を展開。近年はソリストとしてデンマーク国立フィル日本ツアーや国内主要音楽祭に出演するほか、全国でリサイタルツアーを開催。東京フィルハーモニー交響楽団や九州交響楽団などとの共演のほか、ジャズトランペッターのクリス・ボッティとの海外公演やブエノスアイレスでのタンゴ録音など、ジャンルを超えて活動中。『題名のない音楽会』『徹子の部屋』（テレビ朝日）での演奏も話題に。国際教養大学特任准教授、第13期中央教育審議会委員。ハーバード大学卒業、ジュリアード音楽院修了。著書に『超・独学術』など多数。　 Born in Oita, Japan, Sumire Hirotsuru is an internationally acclaimed violinist whose career bridges classical performance, education, and public engagement. While studying at Harvard University, she performed frequently with legendary cellist Yo-Yo Ma, launching an international performing career based in the United States. In recent years, Hirotsuru has appeared as a soloist on the Japan tour of the Danish National Symphony Orchestra and at major music festivals throughout Japan, while also presenting recital tours nationwide. She has performed with leading ensembles including the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra and the Kyushu Symphony Orchestra. Her artistic interests extend beyond the classical world, encompassing international performances with jazz trumpeter Chris Botti and tango recording projects in Buenos Aires.Hirotsuru has also gained widespread recognition through television appearances on popular Japanese programs such as Daimei no Nai Ongakukai (Untitled Concert) and Tetsuko's Room. In addition to her performing career, she serves as Specially Appointed Associate Professor at Akita International University and as a member of Japan’s 13th Central Council for Education. She graduated from Harvard University and completed her studies at The Juilliard School. She is also the author of several bestselling books, including The Art of Independent Learning.

岡田光樹: ヴァイオリニスト ヴァイオリニスト。沖縄県立芸術大学副学長（教育・入試担当）・教授。東京藝術大学を卒業後、英国王立音楽院（Royal Academy of Music）演奏家課程を修了。演奏活動と後進の指導に長年携わり、沖縄県立芸術大学では教育・研究・国際交流の推進に尽力している。沖縄の文化芸術の発展と次世代の音楽家育成を担うリーダーとして活躍している。 Mitsuki Okada is a violinist, educator, and academic leader who serves as Vice President for Education and Admissions and Professor at Okinawa Prefectural University of Arts. After graduating from Tokyo University of the Arts, he completed the Performer’s Course at the Royal Academy of Music in London. For many years, Okada has balanced an active performing career with a deep commitment to mentoring the next generation of musicians. At Okinawa Prefectural University of Arts, he has played a leading role in advancing education, research, and international exchange initiatives. Through his work as both a performer and educator, he continues to contribute significantly to the development of Okinawa’s cultural and artistic landscape while fostering future generations of artists.

大城貴幸（おおしろ たかゆき）／Ootaka: 三線奏者 沖縄県南城市大里大城出身。エイサーの地謡を務めていた父の影響を受け、幼少より三線を始める。沖縄県立南風原高等学校郷土文化コース、沖縄県立芸術大学琉球芸能専攻、同大学大学院舞台芸術専攻を修了し、さらに国立劇場おきなわ組踊研修にて琉球芸能を研鑽した。高校在学中には「汗水節大会」優秀賞、「ラジオ沖縄新唄大賞」を受賞するなど早くからその才能を高く評価される。伝統的な琉球音楽への深い理解と豊かな表現力を持ち、三線奏者として演奏活動を行うとともに、沖縄の伝統文化の継承と発展に尽力している。現代的なアプローチも取り入れながら、国内外の多様な舞台で沖縄音楽の魅力を発信し続けている。 Born in Nanjo, Okinawa, Takayuki Oshiro—known professionally as Ootaka—is a distinguished sanshin performer dedicated to preserving and sharing the musical traditions of the Ryukyu Islands. Inspired by his father, an Eisa musician, he began studying the sanshin at a young age and later pursued formal training in Ryukyuan performing arts at Okinawa Prefectural Haebaru High School, Okinawa Prefectural University of Arts, its graduate program in Performing Arts, and the National Theatre Okinawa's Kumiodori Training Program. Recognized early for his exceptional talent, Ootaka received top honors in both the Hamasui Bushi Competition and the Radio Okinawa New Folk Song Competition. Today, he is admired for his deep understanding of traditional Okinawan music, expressive musicianship, and commitment to cultural preservation. Through performances, collaborations, and educational activities, he continues to share the unique spirit and beauty of Okinawan music with audiences in Japan and around the world.
