「Music for the Ocean」は、作曲家チャド・キャノンが主宰する、音楽を通じて海洋保全への関心と行動を広げるプロジェクトです。世界各地の海での調査やダイビング体験、海洋科学者との協働から生まれた作品を演奏し、海の美しさやその脆さを伝えることで、人々と海とのつながりを深めることを目指しています。また、コンサートや教育活動を通じて、海洋保全に取り組む研究者や団体への支援と理解の輪を広げています。 Music for the Ocean is a multimedia concert experience created by composer-violinist Chad Cannon to raise awareness and funds for ocean conservation - especially coral reefs. The show combines live classical & electronic music with video animations & sound design to create an immersive "nature documentary for the concert hall".

​​チャド・キャノン（Chad Cannon） 作曲家・ヴァイオリニスト／『Music for the Ocean』創設者

『ゴースト・オブ・ツシマ』や『アメリカン・ファクトリー』など、アカデミー賞やエミー賞を賑わせる数々の作品を手がける気鋭の音楽家。久石譲氏の右腕としてオーケストラ編曲を担うなど、第一線で活躍する。本プロジェクトでは、ハイドロフォン（水中マイク）で録音した深海の音と独自の旋律を融合。アニメーションと音楽が織りなす「コンサートホールで体験する自然ドキュメンタリー」を創り上げ、海を愛するすべての人に新たな物語を届ける。 Chad Cannon is a composer and arranger whose work has contributed to acclaimed productions including Ghost of Tsushima and the Academy Award-winning documentary American Factory. He has also collaborated extensively with renowned composer Joe Hisaishi as an orchestral arranger. He received a News & Documentary Emmy nomination for his score to Exposing Muybridge, and has received 7 IFMCA (International Film Music Critics Association) nominations, including for Harbor from the Holocaust, featuring special guest artist Yo-Yo Ma.

​フェ・ウー（HUI WU） ピアニスト 『ニューヨーク・タイムズ』紙から「輝かしい」と評され、『チャイナ・ミュージカル・ウィークリー』誌で「期待の新星」と称される実力派ピアニスト。ジュリアード音楽院で修士号、南カリフォルニア大学（USC）で音楽芸術博士号（DMA）を取得。室内楽から現代音楽、バレエ作品との共演まで幅広く活動し、マシュー・オーコイン等、現代の注目作曲家の作品を数多く演奏・録音する。確かな技術と深い音楽性で、多様な舞台を彩る注目のアーティスト。 Praised as “brilliant” by The New York Times and recognized as a “rising star” by China Musical Weekly, Hui Wu is an internationally acclaimed pianist known for her versatility and expressive artistry. She earned her Master of Music degree from The Juilliard School and her Doctor of Musical Arts degree from University of Southern California. Her career spans chamber music, contemporary music, and interdisciplinary collaborations with dance and theater, and she is particularly recognized for championing the works of today's leading composers through performances and recordings around the world.

【特別共演】 麻衣:歌手 東京生まれ。2歳よりピアノを始め、4歳で映画『風の谷のナウシカ』劇中歌『ナウシカ・レクイエム』を歌う。2005年よりソロ活動を本格化し、映画『トンマッコルへようこそ』テーマ曲、日産スカイラインCM曲『I will be』などを発表。『崖の上のポニョ』イメージアルバム参加のほか、『ハリー・ポッターと死の秘宝 Part2』オープニングテーマ、『坂の上の雲』主題歌『Stand Alone』を歌唱。ディズニー映画『マレフィセント』『シンデレラ』では日本語詞も手がけた。近年は久石譲ワールドツアーにソリストとして参加し、ニューヨーク公演など世界各地で活躍。女声合唱団リトルキャロル主宰。
Born in Tokyo, Mai began studying piano at the age of two and made her recording debut at age four, performing the vocal theme Nausicaä Requiem for the acclaimed animated film Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind. Since launching her solo career in 2005, she has released numerous works, including the theme song for the film Welcome to Dongmakgol and I Will Be, featured in a Nissan Skyline commercial.

Mai has contributed to a wide range of film and television projects, including the image album for Ponyo, the opening theme for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 in Japan, and the celebrated song Stand Alone from the NHK historical drama Clouds Above the Hill. She also wrote the Japanese lyrics for Disney films such as Maleficent and Cinderella.

In recent years, Mai has appeared as a featured soloist on renowned composer Joe Hisaishi's world tours, performing in major venues around the globe, including New York. In addition to her international performing career, she is the founder and director of the women's choir Little Carol.

​広津留すみれ: ヴァイオリニスト 大分市出身。ハーバード大学在学中に世界的チェリストのヨーヨー・マと度々の共演を経て、米国を拠点に演奏活動を展開。近年はソリストとしてデンマーク国立フィル日本ツアーや国内主要音楽祭に出演するほか、全国でリサイタルツアーを開催。東京フィルハーモニー交響楽団や九州交響楽団などとの共演のほか、ジャズトランペッターのクリス・ボッティとの海外公演やブエノスアイレスでのタンゴ録音など、ジャンルを超えて活動中。『題名のない音楽会』『徹子の部屋』（テレビ朝日）での演奏も話題に。国際教養大学特任准教授、第13期中央教育審議会委員。ハーバード大学卒業、ジュリアード音楽院修了。著書に『超・独学術』など多数。　 Born in Oita, Japan, Sumire Hirotsuru is an internationally acclaimed violinist whose career bridges classical performance, education, and public engagement. While studying at Harvard University, she performed frequently with legendary cellist Yo-Yo Ma, launching an international performing career based in the United States.

In recent years, Hirotsuru has appeared as a soloist on the Japan tour of the Danish National Symphony Orchestra and at major music festivals throughout Japan, while also presenting recital tours nationwide. She has performed with leading ensembles including the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra and the Kyushu Symphony Orchestra. Her artistic interests extend beyond the classical world, encompassing international performances with jazz trumpeter Chris Botti and tango recording projects in Buenos Aires.

Hirotsuru has also gained widespread recognition through television appearances on popular Japanese programs such as Daimei no Nai Ongakukai (Untitled Concert) and Tetsuko's Room. In addition to her performing career, she serves as Specially Appointed Associate Professor at Akita International University and as a member of Japan’s 13th Central Council for Education. She graduated from Harvard University and completed her studies at The Juilliard School. She is also the author of several bestselling books, including The Art of Independent Learning.

リトルキャロル:女性合唱団 1996年、NHK東京児童合唱団卒団生を中心に結成された女声コーラスグループ。約20名のメンバーにより、ポップスとクラシックを融合した透明感あるハーモニーを届けている。久石譲＆新日本フィル公演、六本木ヒルズクリスマスコンサート、国連合唱団「平和と希望のコンサート」など多彩な舞台に出演。東京オペラシティや紀尾井ホールでの自主公演も重ねている。これまでにアルバム3作品を発表し、2022年には麻衣 with リトルキャロル名義で『BEAUTIFUL HARMONY』をリリース。宮崎駿監督作品『君たちはどう生きるか』への参加や、2025年東京ドーム公演「久石譲×ロイヤルフィル スタジオジブリ フィルムコンサート」出演など、幅広く活動を続けている。

Little Carol

Women's Choir

Founded in 1996 by alumni of the NHK Tokyo Children's Choir, Little Carol is a women's vocal ensemble known for its luminous harmonies and distinctive blend of classical and contemporary music. Comprised of approximately twenty singers, the group has built a reputation for performances that combine technical excellence with warmth and expressive beauty.

Little Carol has appeared in a wide variety of prestigious concerts and events, including performances with renowned composer Joe Hisaishi and the New Japan Philharmonic, the Roppongi Hills Christmas Concert, and the United Nations Choir's Concert for Peace and Hope. The ensemble has also presented its own concerts at leading venues such as Tokyo Opera City and Kioi Hall.

The choir has released three albums, including BEAUTIFUL HARMONY (2022), recorded under the name Mai with Little Carol. Recent highlights include participation in The Boy and the Heron and appearances at major concert events such as the 2025 Tokyo Dome performance Joe Hisaishi × Royal Philharmonic Orchestra Studio Ghibli Film Concert. Through its diverse artistic activities, Little Carol continues to bring its unique voice to audiences across Japan and beyond.

本公演には、海洋科学ジャーナリストのジュリ・バーウォルド博士が特別ゲストとして登壇し、ホンジュラス・テラ湾で進められている絶滅危惧サンゴの保全活動についてお話しいただきます。また、本公演は、テラ・コーラル（Tela Coral）が設立を進めるサンゴ・バイオバンクへの支援を目的としたチャリティーコンサートです。サンゴの貴重な遺伝資源を未来へ受け継ぐための取り組みを、音楽とともにご紹介します。 Special guest Dr. Juli Berwald, science writer, ocean advocate, and coral conservation leader, will join the program to share the story of ongoing efforts to protect critically endangered corals in Tela Bay, Honduras. This concert also serves as a fundraiser supporting Tela Coral's Coral Biobank Initiative, a pioneering effort to preserve the genetic diversity of vulnerable coral species for future generations. Through a unique combination of music, science, and storytelling, audiences will learn how conservation, research, and community action can help safeguard some of the world's most threatened marine ecosystems.

さらに、本公演の司会は斎藤信子・クリアリー氏が務めます。斎藤氏は、日本とアメリカの文化交流に長年尽力してきた国際交流のスペシャリストであり、クロスカルチュラルコミュニケーションズの企業創設者として、教育・ビジネス・文化芸術の分野で幅広く活躍しています。日本のテレビ・ラジオ番組で司会者や歌手として活動した経験を持ち、現在も日米相互理解の促進に大きく貢献しています。その功績が認められ、2022年には日本政府より旭日単光章を受章しました。又映画“ペーパーランタン”のプロデューサーとして平和活動をライフワークとして各国を廻り、国連軍縮研究所（UNIDIR）や世界貿易機関（WTO）等から受賞、またジャパンソサエティー（JSNC, JSB）から表彰、豊富な経験と温かな語り口で、本公演をナビゲートしていただきます。 The evening will be hosted by Nobuko Saito Cleary, a distinguished leader in U.S.–Japan cultural exchange and international communication. As the founder of Cross-Cultural Communications, she has worked extensively in education, business, culture and the arts, helping to foster understanding and collaboration between Japan and the United States. Before moving to the United States, she enjoyed a successful career in Japan as a television and radio host. Today, she continues to play a vital role in strengthening U.S.–Japan relations through her work in cultural diplomacy and education. In recognition of her many contributions, she was awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, with Silver Rays, by the Government of Japan in 2022. Through the film "Paper Lanterns" she is actively visiting many countries to share the message of Peace as her life work. The United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR) and World Trade Organization (WTO) awarded her with their Certificate of Commendation. The Japan Societies of both Northern California and Boston have also honored her with their Distinguished Award. With her warmth, insight, and wealth of experience, she will guide audiences through this special evening.
